“This program is supported by the RCMP, Saskatoon and Regina City Police, and Calgary and Edmonton City Police. As of January 2008, the Canadian Military has endorsed this program for their training needs. As of October 2008, Federal Correction will look upon successful graduates for potential employees.”

The Criminal Justice system is one of the most fascinating and, at times, controversial components of the legal institution in Canada. The Canadian criminal justice system has three main components: the police, the courts, and corrections.

Policing is many careers in one. Police and government agencies across Canada are in a crisis with the unprecedented amount of retirements. The RCMP and various policing agencies across Canada all have positions that need to be filled due to retiring officers. In addition many new career opportunities with the social agencies will also become available.

You will work in small classes and learn from instructors with related experience. Our courses give you a solid introduction to topics ranging from criminal law, procedural law in the criminal justice system to multiculturalism, psychology and criminology. You obtain hands-on experience in important areas like mediation, interviewing, report writing, note taking, and investigative techniques.

In recent years, career opportunities linked with the criminal justice system have shown steady growth and this program will prepare students for the recruitment or application process to those positions. McKay Career Training is proud to be the only college in Saskatchewan to offer this program.
