Length of Course

The Graphic Design and New Media program is 12 months in length.

Entrance Requirements

  • A grade 12 high school diploma or equivalent
  • Requirements may be modified for mature students/long distance candidates on a case-by-case basis

School day schedule

Monday – Friday
10:00am – 4:00pm

Attendance

Students are expected to attend classes regularly and be punctual in compliance with school policy and funding agent regulations. Students are fully accountable for any absences, lateness, etc. Missed academic/practical instructional content or time is made up in accordance with school policy at the instructor’s discretion.

Night Labs

Night labs and extended hours are offered for this course. Students will need to sign up in advance.

Job Placement/Practicum

A 2 week practicum is offered for this course. Eligibility for practicum will be discussed at the beginning of the course.

Graphic Formats for New Media

  • File types and names, colour use and compression; how these relate to the World Wide Web

Flash Animation and Interaction

  • Integration and design of interactive presentations/animations

Introduction to Digital Video

  • Video formats and compression practical capture, transitions, effects, and non-linear editing

Introduction to Digital Audio

  • Basic audio concepts, recording procedures, mixing, editing, delivery, digital formats, and digital compression

Sucess Strategies

Students gain the tools to change beliefs, habits, and attitudes in order to set higher goals and build a positive self-image

Business Communications

  • Eight basic parts of speech
  • Correct use of grammar
  • Write and proofread effectively
  • Skills will be transfered to business writing and resume writing
